Moving Right Along…

Did I happen to mention that I have recently found my sewing machine again and I am LOVING it? I forgot how therapeutic it is for me to sew. I just adore the construction and the process of creating with fabric…combining the colors and the textures into items we use.

I know…I should be deleavening or spring cleaning…and believe me, next week we will be digging out things like Anilox cleaner and applying the elbow grease to the house…but for NOW:

Lately, Sarah and I have been making some beautiful burp cloths for the baby. None of those plain old white rags for this wee one! No way! We are making two-sided burp cloths with absorbent diapers on one side and pretty fabric on the other. We’ve got it down to a process that enables us to whip them out pretty quickly now too.

While Sarah works on the burp cloths, I have begun the baby’s quilt. Pinks, yellow, whites…using some chenille fabric as well…so we have not only great colors but textures as well. I finished sewing the blocks together last night…now just two borders and the top is finished!

Fireplaces…SOME day!

I have a good friend who is Amish. I have learned so much from here and I continues to amaze me how much we have in common. If I could imagine giving up my precious computer, I swear I could be Amish. Maybe in another life…

Anyway…one thing hubby and I considered this last winter is purchasing one of those cool Amish fireplaces. We even got the name of the Amish man who sold my Amish friend and her family their stove. Maybe next winter we’ll be ready to do something like this!

Preparing for Baby

Well! Now that we know what we are having, the preparations begin in earnest. I have several sewing projects I want to start working on, as well as purchasing a few things here and there. Thankfully, I think we have the digital cameras department completely covered with about ten different kinds of digital cameras in the house between all of us. No problems there.

So…time to begin working on a list! You know me…I love lists!

BIG Ultrasound – Wednesday!

Yep…Wednesday is THE day…the day we find out what this little bean is. We are going up to the perinatal center connected with the best hospital to have a diagnostic ultrasound to ensure this little person is healthy. Of course, we have faith that little beanie is perfect in every way…but it will be good to have this reassurance. The perinatal clinic called a few days ago and hubby gave them all of my pre-admission information…to the point that they even wanted to know if I have a living will and power of attorney. I’m not PLANNING on dying on the ultrasound table…but I guess this isn’t a Plano cosmetic dentist either.

Changing Insurance?

Unbelievably, we are considering changing our health insurance so we can deliver at the hospital we have always delivered at. While I feel comfortable with this hospital and the care we’ve always received there, changing doctors and insurance midway through a pregnancy is undaunting to say the least. A big part of me is resisting this move and I detest the thought of wading through a mountain of insurance quotes to find different coverage. Hubby feels more comfortable with what we are used to, though…so we may just do it.

Can you believe it? Today marks halfway through my pregnancy. I, myself, can hardly believe that I have 20 weeks behind me already. It has completely flown by.

Time to put on the work gloves, roll up my sleeves and get ready for this baby. It is going to be a busy 20 weeks ahead of us…we have lots to do.

We have kids’ bedrooms to switch around, spring cleaning to do, school-year to finish, I have a quilt to start and finish, a garden to plan and plant…and I want to fill my freezer.

Sarah’s Concert

Sarah has an extra-curricular concert she has been chosen to participate in tomorrow afternoon. Her band teacher selected Sarah and several other students to go to a local nursing home and perform for the residents. Not only is this an honor, but it is an excellent learning experience for the kids. I can tell Sarah is a little nervous (nothing like dealing with pre-employment screening or anything like that, though) because she was practicing her flute tonight at an unusual time for her…

Trying to decide whether she would care if I snuck over to watch tomorrow…I just might have to!

Hitchhikers

There are certain perks to being pregnant. For one…I don’t even have to think twice about such things as you would find here: http://www.quicktrimburnandcleanse.com. Honestly…pregnant or not, I have never thought twice about such things. Not my style…I guess I’d rather not know what sort of little “hitchhikers” I have hanging out in my innards. OK…I’ve grossed myself out sufficiently now, so I think I’ll stop.

Juggling It All

Do you ever wonder how you juggle it all? I find myself wondering that quite a bit.
