I read the cutest book the other day — called “Goodnight iPad.” If you’re at all familiar with the children’s classic, “Goodnight Moon,” you can guess the premise. This is a couple of little bunnies who are having to shut down all of their many electronics gadgets for the night. Yes, from discount blu ray players to Nooks to iPads, they have it all. It’s quite cute, filled with colorful pictures and engaging rhymes…entertaining for all ages!

Greetings! Since we last spoke, I have had Several major events…one of which involves turning **45** and the other of which involves my new toy. I’m sure you’ve guessed by now that i’ve joined the ranks of the iPad lovers. This is brand new for me, but so far I’m loving it. My goal for today is to update all my blogs, posting from my new toy. So far, so good. While I don’t foresee moving completely away from my laptop, this will definitely be more convenient in many ways.

Drum Sets

Have you heard of the DW brand of drums? Ordinarily, you might think that I would have no special knowledge about these musical instruments…BUT…you would be wrong! I have a young drummer who lives with me and I have learned many things through the years by being David’s mom. We are on our second drum set right now…that he’s actually thinking he wants to sell now that he’s getting ready to graduate from high school.

Home Car Lot

My hubby sure has his hands full right now. One thing led to another and he now has five cars sitting in our driveway that he needs to fix up and sell. The things they need vary from a bunch of little items on up to a transmission on at least one. yes, he’s getting very good at organizing his welding supplies and getting these jobs done. Now, to get them all out of here before David’s graduation party!

Sarah’s Dance Class

Sarah had a scary episode at dance class last week. All of a sudden in the middle of class, she was overcome by a dizzy attack and she couldn’t continue. Her teacher told me that it was the scariest thing to witness to see Sarah all of a sudden just swoon in the middle of the dance routine. The first thing she thought was that Sarah hadn’t eaten or was having an appedex side effects…but Sarah insists she had eaten plenty that day. Strangely enough, she was fine the next day.

Cleaning the Blinds

I was just looking at my windows with a critical eye this week. I think…although I hate to say it…that it’s time to pull all the blinds down and scrub them. I detest this job — it involves one of two things: either hosing them off outside or scrubbing them in the bathtub. It’s a horrible job but they look so nice once they’re clean. It’s hard to keep blinds looking nice around here…the kids are hard on them.

Another Graduation

Have I mentioned that we are gearing up for another big graduation? David is in the final seven weeks of his senior year of high school. I can hardly believe I’m writing that! Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday he was scooting around the floor trying to keep up with his older brother and sister. Now he’s the big guy around the house and we’re getting ready to celebrate his achievements!

Yes…soon I’ll be up to my eyeballs in graduation invitations, graduation announcements, party decorations, balloons, food, drink and all that fun stuff. We have actually decided to throw the party on Father’s Day — June 17. I know…it’s a little unorthodox, but we’re going to make it work.

David wants all the family there for his big day and we’ll have to fix enough food to do it right. I think we’ll probably do a bonfire at night and I hear that there will be a fun jazz band playing in a nearby park that evening for us older peeps. Sounds like something for everyone, right? I think so!

I’m not stressing about it yet, but give me time. That is a guaranteed situation, believe me. It does help that we’ve done this before so at least now I have a little experience and know-how.

I love the new invitations you can get that incorporate your grad’s school colors and themes. We actually bought some that came in a special package with his graduation cap and gown. That reminds me…WHY do you have to BUY the graduation gown? Seriously?!? What on earth is wrong with renting? We are now the proud owners of a bright red graduation gown that we will probably only use once. Oh well…memories, right?

Anyway…stay tuned for my craziness…it’s bound to be interesting!

Disney!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Disney — either Disney Land or Disney World. We just found out that we are heading to Florida this fall…whether we’ll work in a trip to Disney World remains to be seen.

I can’t imagine how excited the kids would be if they found out that Disney might be in their future.

If we were to buy Disneyland tickets, I would definitely want to shop around to get the best prices. When you have the number of people that we do in your party, it gets very important to get a good deal.

So…what is your favorite…Disney Land or Disney World? I definitely remember Disney World more than Disney Land. I think there is more to do and see in DW than DL…but I’m sure it’s possible to have a good time in both areas.

There’s a lot to think about and plan if you’re going to do it right. For instance, how many days do you need to do it right? What are the extra things that you just have to do? What do you need to budget to do it right? Is there enough to keep the whole family happily engaged in the activities?

Watching my almost 10-month-old granddaughter barrel her way into the world of the walking. She’s always been a determined little person, from the beginning showing us signs that she was going to take after her daddy. In the space of one week she went from taking two or three tentative steps to going 10 or 12 at a time. What a blessing it is to sit back and watch her go last weekend when they came for an extended visit! At one point my son and his wife were sitting on opposite couches with an expanse of about 8 feet between them. Josie was walking back and forth between their outstretched arms…oh the joy of it to see the happiness and excitement on all three of their faces!

Jogging Strollers

If you and your baby are out for frequent treks over all kinds of terrain, you ow it to both of you to check out the bumbleride indie for strolling with your little one.

Once I experienced the look and feel of jogging strollers several years ago, I never went back to the standard strollers for my kids. I prefer the added shock absorbency and ability to walk just about anywhere with a jogging stroller.

We quickly bought both a single and a double jogger for a variety of options with our kids. The ones we’ve bought have definitely had some miles put on them!
