Make Today Your Lucky Day

Forget past mistakes. Forget past failures. Bless yourself by forgetting everything except what you are going to do right now…and now go do it.

Today is your lucky day!

Opportunities

Opportunities are never lost - someone will take the ones you miss! Don’t hesitate when you are given the chance for something. Hesitation may mean regrets.

Heart Song

Everyone has a song in their heart. Everyone has a reason for being here and a season for making their highest and greatest contribution.

No one knows what that is or when that is for anyone else. Your heart wants to sing. Don’t die with your music still within you.

Resent Not

There is no justification for resentment. When you resent someone, you are operating with the belief that they are responsible for your unhappiness or suffering. You may receive the poison of someone’s unkind words but you don’t have to absorb it. The benefit of not absorbing the poison of others is you won’t experience enmity towards others.

People notice when you have absolutely no enmity. It draws them close, it empowers them, it builds trust!

WIC Finally Updated!

June 26th, 2008 -- Posted in Go Mommies! | No Comments »

Wow! This really made my day! This is so long overdue…

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) food program has just received its first major rules change since its creation in 1972. The good news is that WIC participants are now allowed to purchase fruits, vegetables and whole grains!

The WIC program (overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides supplementary nutrition to qualifying low-income women who are pregnant or have children up to the age of five who are at nutritional risk.

WIC guidelines only allow the vouchers to be used to purchase certain items that are nutritional necessities. The new rules are designed to decrease saturated fat and cholesterol intake and increase the intake of fiber, fruits and vegetables.

For the first time, WIC vouchers can be used to purchase fruits or vegetables. At the same time, the maximum allowed amounts of eggs, juice and dairy products have been lowered.

Another rule change aims to encourage breastfeeding by giving out fruit and vegetable vouchers valued at $10 to each woman who fully breastfeeds her infants. This is compared with the normal $8 value of the voucher. In addition, the amount of infant formula that can be purchased for partially breastfed infants has been decreased.

I consider this a big step in the right direction!

This Award Made My Day…

June 25th, 2008 -- Posted in Go Mommies! | 6 Comments »

Isn’t this cool? Kim a blogging friend from the team of blogging mommies at “Accidental Mommies” awarded me and my blog with this award a few days ago. It’s called the Arte y pico award. I’m very honored to be included and am displaying this proudly in my sidebar! I’m not sure what it means, but will assume it’s good! LOL

Here are the rules:

1. Pick five (5) blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4. Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award

I am passing on this blogging honor to some of my favorite blogging hangouts (in no particular order):

1. Lora at Lora’s Journal
2. Dave at Welcome Back Rosenthal
3. Liza at A Simple Life
4. Rebecca at Freaky Frugalite
5. Deb at Mom of 3 Girls

Feel free to pass if you’re not into this kind of thing or you’ve already been bestowed this prestigious award!

Think of love as the ocean that receives and accepts all the rivers flowing to it. There is no questioning of origin or turning anything back. All is welcomed.

Treasure every moment that you are given. Treasure it more because you shared it with someone special.

Time waits for no one. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift… That’s why it’s called “the present.”

Spotting Goodness

When I am critical towards others I am going in the wrong direction. I find I tend to be very good at spotting mistakes…I need to strive to develop the quality of also spotting goodness. When I see what is good in others or in situations and look past the negativity, I can feel good about myself.

If I constantly think that someone else is wrong, I create a barrier that blocks me from reaching my own goodness.
