Gasp…Potty Training My Baby!

All of a sudden yesterday Isaiah decided to potty train! Can you believe it?
Once I sat down to actually think about it, I realized that I have had at least one child in diapers for almost 18 years (Lora was out of diapers before Daniel was born). Please…don’t anyone try to figure out how many diapers I may have changed in my life time…that would just be too, too cruel.
So anyway…Isaiah is on a mission…and doing well! I am thrilled…but at the same time I’m a little freaked out about it too. He is, after all, my baby.

No, you’re not a weirdo at all. It’s just that you’re baby is growing up.
Our youngest is going to be heading off to college, and I’m already experiencing the empty nest syndrome just thinking about it. There’s always been a child in our house for the past 18 years. It’s sad to think about but yet I’m excited for him!

It’ s pretty crazy, isn’t it? Natalie is almost totally potty trained now. If she doesn’t regress when we get to Korea, all that we really need to do is transition her from the cloth diapers at night to using just panties overnight. I REALLY recommend the cloth overnight, that helped SO much with getting her to keep dry and it was a total accident too. I just got some so that I had diapers for overnight when we were in Korea but after one night, she really got motivated to stay dry during the night so it really helped out. It was a much smoother transition than I expected too, especially considering I was several months older when I finally figured it out myself but then I had little help from my mom with it.

I guess, although the mixed feelings… lol.. Congratulations… that’s a biggie.. But I know how you feel, (not the potty training, we’re not quite there) but on letting go little by little of each stage…

You deserve an award! Changing diapers for 18 solid years, now that is noteworthy. Not a man on the planet can say that. (Unless, of course, you have a very helpful husband in which case I apologize and give him an award too.) Way to go, Isaiah!
