Coconut Oil Is A Natural Remedy for Pneumonia
Coconut oil has been shown to be a natural remedy for Pneumonia.
Adding coconut oil for three consecutive days has been shown to hasten recovery for children suffering Peumonia. On average, the children who took coconut oil had a normal respiratory rate after less than 33 hours. Children who did not take coconut oil saw a normalized breathing rate after about 48 hours. The children who received coconut oil showed reduced fevers, clear breathing and normal blood oxygenation faster than the other group.
Pneumonia can be a serious childhood illness. Especially in developing countries it is a leading cause of mortality in children. Coconut oil may be especially helpful for children living in these countries.
The current hypothesis as to how coconut oil helps points to lauric acid, which is an antimicrobial substance found in coconut oil. This may naturally boost the body’s immune system and the effectiveness of the antibiotics administered for treatment.
With this in mind, I thought I would share one of our very favorite recipes for a treat made with coconut oil!
1 cup coconut oil
3/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup honey
1 T vanilla
1/2 cup coconut
1/4 cup almonds
Heat the coconut oil in a small sauce pan over medium heat until it becomes liquid. Add the cocoa and honey and cook for a few minutes. Remove from heat and add the remaining ingredients. Drop by teaspoon onto a sheet and chill in the refrigerator until set. Store in a plastic container in the refrigerator or freezer.
