Crunch Time – To Dance or Not…
We’ve kind of been putting off a decision about whether or not to continue the girls in ballet this year. Our finances have been quite tight and escalating fuel/food prices haven’t made things any easier lately. Also, my parents have historically helped send the girls to ballet, but now that my dad is retired their finances have become a little tighter as well and they are becoming more sensitive to expenses like this.
Several weeks ago I sent the owner of our Dance Academy a letter asking her if she would consider giving us a discount since we have three children enrolled. We essentially asked for a “3 for the price of 2″ deal. Even with this discount it is quite expensive…but this would make it a little easier.
Today I received the enrollment details for the coming year in the mail. What she did was institute a “family discount” of 15% for families that have 3 or more children enrolled in the Academy. So…bottom line was she gave us about half of what we asked for. She also included a hand-written note telling me she received our letter and hoped the discount would help.
Now we’re in a quandry…the girls all have spots reserved and would love another year…do we take the discount or pass?
