I admit – I can be as guilty of this as the next person. There are words in the American daily vocabulary that have definitely risen to the top as far as popularity and even overuse.

Three that come immediately to mind for me are:

1. Absolutely : Why say simply “yes” when you can say absolutely instead? Absolutely definitely communicates an over-the-top “yes” and I hear it constantly.

2. Amazing : This word was once used to describe only things really out of the ordinary. Now it seems like everything has AMAZING qualities!

3. Vetting : Used to be you only heard this in connection with political figures. Now it seems like vetting is a snooty synonym for “discussing” and “considering” and “looking into.”

Any words you’re thinking have reached the TOO much of a good thing status?
