What is glass cullet?
Great question, eh?
Glass Cullet is recycled glass that is gathered from glass containers as well as from breakages occurring during the glass manufacturing process. Glass cullet comes in a wide range of colors – clear, green, and amber are the most common. Glass cullet is usually obtained from bottles and jars (occasionally from plate glass sources as well). Glass cullet has found uses in a wide rage of industries. It is turning out to be a strong, clean, safe, versatile, and even environmentally friendly material.
Here is the coolest part of all! Finding as many uses as possible for glass cullet is important because the environmental impact of recycling this kind of glass is huge. A glass bottle in a landfill will take millions of years to break down. If we recycle a glass bottle instead we can save enough energy to run a light bulb for an hour, or my computer for 20 minutes. I told you this was cool!
I need to look into this further. What do you think about it?
