My husband works out of our home and he has thought over the years about utilizing some kind of professional answering services to handle his incoming calls. I found an interesting one today that I need to flag for him to look at.
This service is great because it can be customized to meet a variety of different business needs. It can be just a very basic answering service that a small business might need (this would be us) all the way up to a complex call center solution.
The good thing about this service is that customers receive a high level of personalization any hour of the day or day of the week.
Notable Points:
- Professional and Courteous Receptionists
- Specialized Call Screening
- Emergency Response Specialists
- Voicemail Services
- Custom Account and Software Design
- Interface with Company Website
- Online Messaging through the Internet or Email
They have a free trial option where new customers can try the service free for 7 days. This is a great idea if you are unsure whether or not this will fit your needs. Also interesting are the video clips that outline their specialized services. I don’t know about you, but I learn so much more when I can actually see something in action.
If you are a business owner who hasn’t found the right professional answering service yet, give this a look.

Lightness
When you move through life with lightness, you can touch the hearts of other people without leaving any marks. I like this. Many of us carry so much emotional baggage that getting rid of as much as you can really lightens your negative impact on others.

The Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center in Orange, Texas would be a great place for a field trip! I sure wish we lived closer, because I love to visit places like this with my kids.
Not only is this a great place to take the entire family, but even cooler is the platinum certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for New Construction (LEED?-NC) that the U.S. Green Building Council has awarded Shangri La Gardens. Earning this award is no small feat. This verifies that the design and construction of the Shangri La has reached the highest green building and performance measures. Their website includes all of the green details that their center boasts that earned them this prestigious award. I encourage you to go and see everything they have worked so hard on!
If you are going to be anywhere near Orange, Texas, you really should include a tour of this garden center. Next best thing would be to visit their website. It’s very well done and it includes great information about all of the great features that the Shangri La has for your pleasure and entertainment.

A little about their botanical center - my favorite part! The Botanical Gardens feature over 300 species of plants in nine formal gardens. It sounds wonderful! The Botanical Gardens include five garden areas: The Line Garden, The Hanging Garden, The Shape Garden, The Texture Garden, and The Color Garden. A historic garden known as The Pond of the Blue Moon honors the original Shangri-La and features 41 varieties of azaleas.
They have tailored many interesting features especially for kids that would definitely make this a great trip for any family. Like I said before, I sure wish we lived closer.

…and sat down beside her!
I am not Little Miss Muffet, nor do I resemble her in any fashion…however…
Let me back up a bit~
Typically, my laptop follows me around the house and I keep it near wherever I am. But I do have a favorite place to sit and work at my dining room table. The kids toy closet is right close and they will play there while I peck away Anyway, as you might imagine, I have a favorite chair and usually sit in the same spot.
Well, yesterday I had my laptop facing out into the room while I was doing some stuff so that I could keep an eye on the screen. Today when I sat down I just kept it where it had been and so I was sitting in a different spot this morning. As I sat there (I was EC dropping), my eye caught a SPIDER lowering himself from the ceiling…right to the spot that I usually sit. If I had been in my usual chair he would have surely either have landed on my head or come right down in front of my face.
Well…the nursery rhyme ends “…and frightened Miss Muffet away.” Maybe I’m not so unlike little Miss Muffet afterall…

I did - but my hubby did not.
He said it happened at about 4:30ish. He was up at his computer when all of a sudden he noticed stuff around him shaking. He said it lasted about 20 seconds and the feeling it gave him was not one he’s had in years. A sort of panic and not knowing what was happening yet knowing it couldn’t be good. All sorts of thoughts go through your mind - bomb, earthquake, whatever.
He went searching a little bit after and found where the epicenter was and that it was a 5.2.
Exciting, huh? I always sleep through them. The last big one happened in the middle of the night, too.
