Final countdown to my birthday! Yikes - gotta figure out what I want from hubby. I’m thinking something both pretty and practical. That always works well for me. I could really use a watch. It’s been a long time since I had a watch that I liked enough to wear every day. I’ve totally gotten out of the habit of wearing a watch and I think I’d like to start again.
I found some beautiful concord watches here. They really are attractive, I think. TheWatchery has so many watches it’s hard to choose just one, but I think I am going to email my hubby a picture and a link of this lovely Movado watch.

I wanted to share a tragic story that just keeps getting more and more sad.
A little over two weeks ago in a neighboring town, there was a house fire. It occurred just after midnight. A 37 year old father of three lost his life rescuing his 16 year old daughter. The girl is now hospitalized with burns over 60% of her body.
Jeff Sullivan died from a combination of fire related injuries shortly after he arrived at the hospital. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries during the rescue.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene they found the house fully engulfed in flames with thick black smoke pouring out of the windows. People were screaming that there was still someone inside the house. The mother and three children had escaped, but the father could not be found. It was reported that he had gone down to the basement to find a family member.
Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to help them get through thick smoke and heavy fire to find the husband and father. It took less than two minutes to find him. He was unconscious, but still breathing.
Based on investigation, analysis by experts, and interviews of many people, investigators have now determined that the fire was caused by an intentional act.
The latest update is that investigators are centering their investigation around the 16 year old daughter as the only suspect in the arson. How unimaginably horrible.

As a homeschooler and a music lover, music is a huge part of our curriculum. I have and/or will teach all of our children how to play the piano. Learning to play the piano provides the best foundation for a complete and well-rounded education in music. Our four oldest children have also added additional instruments as they grew. Lora is a excellent flutist, Daniel is a great trumpeter and he has also dabbled with the saxophone, David is an awesome drummer, and Sarah is just finishing her first year learning the flute.
I just found out about a interesting option for teaching your children music. It’s called the Amadeus Home Music School. This national organization provides quality music lessons that fit your schedule. With teachers in every state, you can arrange private lessons to be held in your own home.
With teaching that combines the best and latest methods and one-on-one instruction your kids are sure to succeed! As important as I believe a musical education is, if I didn’t have the ability to teach my own children music, I would be hiring an organization just like this!

Contentment
I’ve been thinking a lot about contentment lately. Trying to balance a desire to improve and succeed with a peace about the “here and now” is a tough one.
There are many things about my life about which I feel content. I love my family, my house is nice, etc. There are a few things that I would like to be better or “more”. I’d like to lose the last of my baby weight from Isaiah still (sigh) and this blogging thing I’m into now has me on an ever-pressing drive to improve.
A few more thoughts:
Contentment is a great virtue. Perhaps the best thing about it is the lack of attention it draws. Think about it…those who are truly content are usually quiet about it.

I found a really cool site this morning as I was wandering here and there on the internet. Wouldn’t you love to know what’s next in music? If you like to know what’s hot and what’s new, then Leepfrog.tv needs to be in your bookmarks.
This is a music video site that is highlighting up and coming music artists. It has a great selection of full length music videos, original content, user generated content, and extensive music sampling. The site is really sharp looking and using it was really easy. Great navigation and even a feature to comment on different videos! Cool!
